Final Major Project final outcome
Residential housing design proposal.Based on contemporary, luxury city living and inspired by modular,flexible,consumer-friendly architecture.
Models made concentrating on technical, constructural side
Finished 1:50 Mass Model representing residential house idea, concentrating on the technical side and showing different materials that would be used and how they would affect the exterior
Absolutely adore this!
Lauren it’s very impressive! it could mean so many things!

Capturing the interiors of the second section cut 1:50 scale model. Using appropriate scale figures to communicate the size of rooms and awareness of space inside the house.
The second model took about 5 days to complete, making the main structure (cubes) out of plywood, then carrying on with balsa wood to craft internal walls and main furniture objects.
The main aim of this model is to show the inside of the building, spaces and rooms and the basic layout of the house. Together with the first model (structural) they give quite a good idea of how the house would be constructed.
Using Adobe Photoshop CS5 I have edited the photographs and played around with levels and curves to make them aesthetically appealing.
that is a very good idea! painted objects look sort of distorted which makes them so much more interesting to look at!

Capturing one of three final model, showing the construction of the structure as a ‘Skeleton’ model, representing metal beams and various contruction methods.
Light experimentation
Playing around with light and shadows, how different shapes affect the atmosphere in the room. For my final design proposal I came up with an idea of very sophisticated lighting, using as many skylights as possible to let natural day light in, and slotting some shapes into the ceiling to let the light in. I wanted to explore what shapes work best.I was using a piece of cardboard and a domestic lamp to capture my experiments, then done some retouching to make sure the photographs turned out nice and professional
They look really good, nice to see couple of textures going on which gives a sophisticated look to the piece

Digital Rendering
Using model made with Sketchup and importing in on my chosen location photograph. Although the perspective is wrong it gives an idea of how the structure would fit into its surroundings.
Once I decide on the materials and improve my 3D model in Skechup I will produce more accurate renderings.
Having decided on the structure of the building, I have explored variety of materials and how they influence the design. The mixed material maquette works quite well, having sort of futuristic look to it.
